Chaplaincy Program

Chaplaincy Program at Cranbourne West Primary School

After a brilliant start in 2012, the Chaplaincy Program is now in its fifth year. This program is funded under the National Schools Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Initiative to provide two days per week of support for our student well-being programs until the end of 2018.

Our Chaplain is:    Naomi Kelly

Hi, I am Naomi and I will be the School Chaplain at Cranbourne West Primary School on Mondays and Fridays.

Just a little bit about myself – I have been working with children in a variety of settings for the past few years. I have been involved in supporting families who have experienced family violence, working in a special school running both individual and group social skills sessions and running children’s ministry programs.

During my time at Cranbourne West Primary, I will be working individually with some students on various social skills such as creating/maintaining friendships, building resilience and identifying/dealing with emotions. I will also be involved in running the Playgroup which runs during the school term on Monday mornings from 9:00am to 10:30am. This free playgroup is a great place to bring your children to have some fun, while also being a good opportunity to get to know some other parents and carers as well.

I am really excited to be joining the Cranbourne West Primary School community, and look forward to getting to know everyone. Please feel free to come and say hello or email me at naomi.kelly21@hotmail.com.

The Chaplaincy Program will include:

Building positive relationships with students and providing support when needed.  Working closely with school staff and services to nurture and care for students and develop preventative programs that will safeguard our kids as they grow. If you have any questions about the program, you can contact Naomi via email, or through the school office on Mondays and Fridays.

Programs currently running include:

  • Individual social-emotional mentoring
  • Group programs to develop social skills, friendships and conflict resolution
  • Supported playgroup

This project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education under the National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program.
